With the launch of iOS 10, Apple allowed third-party iMessage apps to be integrated via its dedicated App Store. It is also now possible for users to send handwritten notes, give quick responses using tapbacks, have emoji suggestions, and more. Gaming is the second most-popular app type on the iMessage App Store, with at least 91 apps available to download. Entertainment, Utilities and Productivity apps follow.

Stickers were one of the features that Apple appropriated from other messaging apps, although they do not come pre-installed on a device and need to be downloaded from the App Store for iMessage. A quick glance through the 1,251 sticker packs available reveals a mix of cartoons, animations and famous people—Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber have dedicated sticker packs. Grumpy Spud is available for those moments when a celebrity is not desired.
