Your Uber Login Data Can Be Stolen by The New Android Malware

The cyber security issue has become increasingly acute, drawing everyone's attention. Various kinds of Trojans are threatening your personal data's safety, such as Fakeapp Trojan. Recently, the new variant of FakeApp imitates the Uber app in order to steal your login data. More details available in the following contents. Besides that, our top app store optimization services will manage to get your app more attractive, relevant and visible to search engines and top app rank.

According to the research of Symantec, we can know the malware displays a spoofed version of the Uber app, encouraging the user to enter their user ID in the form of their registered phone number and password. Once this information is entered, it sends the information to a remote server.

To cover up the credential theft, this malware uses deep links to Uber's legitimate app to display the user's current location—making it appear as though the user is accessing the Uber app instead of a malicious fake. Deep linking routes users to specific content within an app (think of it as clicking the link to this story rather than a link to the Gizmodo home page). In this case, Symantec found that attackers used deep links to pull a rider's actual location information from Uber.

he malware isn't downloaded from the Google Play store itself, but rather comes from downloading applications from third-party websites, and isn't thought to be widespread. Uber official announced it has safeguards in place to ensure that users' accounts are protected, and can't be abused by hackers and other unauthorised users.

Personally I think, downloading apps from the official Android marketplace is the safest way to protect against falling victim to FakeApp. Do you think so? Stay tuned more app news here. BTW, choosing our top app rank boosting service to increase your income right now!
