In the new Who's In app, activities are divided into different categories. You can select options such as Eat and Drink, Visit an attraction, or even create your own event option. Who's In then leverages Microsoft's search engine Bing for its suggestions of things to do after you choosing an option. These appear after you consent to sharing your location with the app.
Once an event has been selected, you can then enter details like location, name and choose a couple different time options. A custom card for the event is then created which you can then text to your entire group. Instead of having to deal with all the back-and-forth of what time and place works best for everyone, recipients just vote in the app.
The new app is an expanded endorsement of Apple's iMessages chat "micro-platform" introduced last summer as a new feature of iOS 10. Apple has made it relatively easy to customize parts of iOS apps for use within iMessage. Fandango offers its own group chat app for movie planning, while OpenTable, Yelp and Dine do the same for food outings.
